Just How Secure is a Complex Password?

Did you know that password length is just as important as password complexity? According to the NIST password guidelines, a longer password is harder to crack than a shorter one with special characters. So instead of using passwords like “P@ssw0rd!” (~6 hours to software hack), try using passphrases like “I love chocolate cake” or “My dog is the best” (~126 bn years to software hack). They are easier to remember and more secure. Just make sure they are at least 12 characters long and not too common or predictable. And don’t forget to use two-factor authentication whenever possible to add an extra layer of protection to your accounts. Stay safe online!
